Our Team

Catherine Schlaht, D.D.S.

Dr. Schlaht has been practicing dentistry in La Mesa since 1991. Her education includes a Biology degree from Creighton University and a Dental degree from UCLA. Her professional memberships include the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and the San Diego County Dental Society.

Dr. Schlaht works diligently to provide you with the best dentistry by staying up to date with the latest procedures and continuing education. She wants to provide you with complete dental health and will listen and prioritize treatment so that you are an active participant in your diagnosis. It is important to the doctor to accomplish this task in a kind, gentle manner.

Being actively involved in the community is also important to Dr. Schlaht. She is a member of the Sprites organization, a mother-daughter philanthropic organization. This organization works with local East County programs serving those in need. Dr. Schlaht is also involved with her son’s middle school helping to organize curriculum enrichment opportunities. Dr. Schlaht has also spear-headed a learning club for elementary students to challenge them and allow them to succeed in academics and to become strong leaders.

Dr. Schlaht is married with two children. She and her family enjoy many outdoor activities including golf, snow skiing and the beach.

Marey Stone, D.D.S.

Dr. Marey Stone received her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in French in 1993. She took a year off to travel the South Pacific before entering dental school and graduating in 1998 from the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry.

Dr. Stone is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and the San Diego Dental Society. She has been involved with community dentistry outreach programs, school screenings and sealant programs for the underserved. Dr. Stone has furthered her dental education with continuing education classes in implant restoration, including implant-retained dentures, crowns, and bridges with an emphasis on esthetics. She is also a certified Invisalign provider. You will find Dr. Stone to be a gentle, compassionate, detail-oriented dentist who will take the time needed to give you the quality and care you deserve.

When not in the office, Dr. Stone enjoys scuba diving, bicycle touring, and traveling with her husband and son, Charley. She is an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan which she claims has taught her a great deal about how to handle frustration. She is a beginning sailor and an accomplished pet-rescuer.

Our team is dedicated to make your dental visit as pleasant and comfortable as you would expect from the family oriented dental practice. From the moment you enter the office, you will be treated with the outermost respect you and your family deserves.

	Sharon Smith, Business Coordinator Sharon began her career in dentistry in 1987 as a Registered Dental Assistant. Sharon is a native San Diegan who grew up in and around the La Mesa area. Sharon enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include glass arts and quilting, but her passion is travel.
	Kelly Cossano, Patient Coordinator Kelly has been with our office since 1997. She started out as a registered dental assistant. She is currently our patient liaison and “will bend over backwards” to provide a positive experience for every patient. In her spare time she enjoys baking, cake decorating, and going to the movies. Her latest passion is target and trap shooting with her son. As a family, they're building and plan to race a class 5 off road car.
	Carol Phillips, Registered Dental Hygienist Carol found an interest in dentistry as a teenager while having orthodontic treatment. She pursued that interest and has enjoyed practicing dental hygiene in the East County since 1983. She enjoys helping patients improve their dental health and making their dental appointments as pleasant as possible. Carol is a resident La Mesa, having grown up here and continues to reside in La Mesa. She is married and has two cats. Carol has many interests including decorative painting, Jazzercise and gardening.
	Angela Schaeffer, Register Dental Hygienist Angela began her career in dentistry in 1991 as a dental assistant then furthered her education to become a hygienist. She received her A.S. in Dental Hygiene from Southwestern College. She graduated top of her class in 2003. Angela has two children and resides in Fletcher Hills. She enjoys hiking, kickboxing and, most of all, spending time with family.
	Sherry Kostecka, Registered Dental Hygienist Sherry graduated from Indiana University in 1996 with a BA in Art (Photography) and again in 1999 with an AS in Dental Hygiene. She moved to San Diego in 2007 for the beautiful weather. Sherry is married with pets. Her hobbies are Karate, Japanese Sword and photography.
	Jacqueline Hunter, Registered Dental Assistant Jackie has been a Registered Dental Assistant since 1995. Our office has been her home since the new millennium. Jackie grew up in San Diego. She is married with five children. Her interests include church activities, reading and resting.
